In conversations I have with churches, it's not uncommon to find the Session and pastors only minimally aware of regulations and best practices that have to do with pastoral compensation. The article "Paying the Pastor" by Richard Hammar puts the main issues in an accessible, short form. With the new year around the corner it could serve as a helpful review for Sessions and treasurers.
