Flooding in Georgia

As many of you know Trion, Ga., and the northwest area of GA was hit with tremendous flood waters the first of this week. Our Trion EPC Church, along with the surrounding 8-10 block neighborhood including the huge denim mill, was flooded in about a one hour span. Our church had over 10' of water in one end of the basement and about 6' in the other end....this basement area is comprised of Sunday School Classrooms and the furnace room. Two of our men, Charles Frady and Buddy Evans worked tirelessly cleaning the mud and water out of those basement classrooms. We do not know the financial toll yet, but may have to replace the furnace, wiring and plaster walls. The low-income apartment complex across the street plus other municipal buildings are being cleaned out and are going to have to be reclaimed. The Red Cross and Salvation Army and other organizations are assisting those individuals. Since the church is located in a flood area there was no flood insurance. We are exceptionally grateful that the water did not enter the sanctuary and equally grateful for the labors of Charles and Buddy. We are having Church worship this coming Sunday morning in the sanctuary.
